History

Planet 80 have been rocking venues throughout the South East and South West since January 2016 but none of the band are strangers to entertaining crowds, having come together from various bands in the past. We cover a wide range of 80s music from artists such as Wham!, Aztec Camera, Duran Duran, Queen, Erasure, Huey Lewis, Gary Numan and many more.

Like many bands, we started playing in local pubs and clubs but these days we are often seen in much larger venues such as the Concorde Club and The White Horse Theatre in Seal Bay Holiday park where we have shared the stage with the likes of Go West, Black Lace and Sonia as part of their Big 80s Weekends. We also organise an annual outdoor mini-festival on Hayling Island.

What we do

As a self contained band we provide all our own equipment, PA system, lightshow and haze effects (where allowed) but we are flexible and adaptable to venue systems too as our sound engineer can liaise with your venue tech team. We have full public liability insurance (PLI) and all of our equipment is regularly electrically tested by our sound engineer who is a qualified PAT tester.

If you are looking to book us, we need enough time to get in, get set up and do a sound check before you open your doors to the audience. Ideally we would want at least 2 hours to do this, but if access to your venue is difficult (i.e. unable to park close to the doors, stairs/lifts, narrow doorways etc) we may need longer. However, we always visit the venue a few days or weeks beforehand to check these things out and if we see any issues we will discuss with you in plenty of time before the date.

Our set times can be varied to your requirements and we can provide background music before and after the show and during any intervals. We can also add a live DJ in addition to the band (cost negotiable) if you would like to warm up the crowd before our set or keep the party going into the early hours.
